Ha, Ha, it is the 7th of January, 2009!! As I told a friend the other day, I shall only post on the 7th day of the month. Sounds mystic, doesn't it?? I might be able to handle 12 posts/year, not sure.
We went to the library yesterday. As I told the librarian, books are my alcohol. I checked out our usual armload and then "checked out" the sale books in the back room. Treasures again!!! First of all, there was an Answer Bible (New Century version) which was basically new, then a Ruth Bell Graham book, an adorable, luscious old children's book of poems & drawings, a somewhat battered Steven Kellogg kid's book and yum-o!, The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady! I have always wanted that book! And 25Cents!!!! I also picked up Vol. 2 of the Complete Sherlock Holmes, guess I will have to make another trip seeking Vol 1.

I checked out 2 books, both should be interesting reading. Schindler's List and How the Irish Saved Civilization (well of course!)

Brenna & Quinn performed dinner theater for us last night. It made the spaghetti vastly more enjoyable! (Alissa was the videographer).

We started school on Monday. Not much grumping, I think they were ready. I just need to get regrouped and on track for our history and science schedule. AND we need to make a trip to the Hastings Museum & Planetarium. I have been thinking about the Edgerton Explorit center too, that is so neat and they have special events planned. I will have to visit their website.

To my millions of readers, Have a Blessed 2009!!

The Candy Bombers

Hello all (or no one, as the case may be)
Just thought I would recommend a book I just finished, The Candy Bombers. It is about the blockade of Berlin after WW2 and the airlift, etc. Just SOOOO interesting. So give me a holler if you want to read it, the book is in residence here!

Here I stand

I have just created a blog and all I really wanted to do was post to someone else's. Hmmm
So this will be short and sweet. Maybe. Really don't have time to write anything. I just finished reading Christ the lord: Out of Egypt by Anne Rice. It was an amazing book to read. And of course is stirring up all kinds of issues. The librarian gave me this "well I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole" look when I explained just a bit about it. I was moved, learned alot about Jewish culture and family life, got a little bit into what, how Jesus might have thought as a young boy (understanding of course that this is a work of fiction). Although yes, the Scriptures are totally sufficient, reading this flavors my understanding of the times of Christ. I appreciated Ms. Rice's afterword and explanation of her process of undertaking and researching this book as well. Guess that is all.
